Just sharing a new management pack for SCOM 2012 that I uploaded onto the TechNet Gallery.
This new management pack provides a monitor to check that where mount points exist, they have labels. The reason this is important is because SCOM will not discover mount points unless they have labels, but no alerts will be generated to advise of this. This management pack changes that!
The management pack can be downloaded here, https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/SCOM-2012-Monitor-for-610dcbb8.
Once the ZIP file has been downloaded, extract the “Aquilaweb.Support.MountPointLabels.mp” file and import into your SCOM management group. By default, the monitor is disabled, therefore you will need override the monitor to enable it. The monitor name and target location is displayed in the image below.
After the monitor has been enabled, an alert will be generated for each computer that contains mount points without labels. Within the alert will be details of the mount points that are missing labels.
Happy mount point monitoring!!! Please let me know if you have any improvement suggestions, any issues, or any other ideas of missing monitoring that would be very useful.
