This post I have written while sitting in Berlin Tegel airport waiting for my flight home after another great System Center Universe conference.

It was another three days of great informative technical sessions, all presented by experts who didn’t just know the subject matter in theory, they all have masses of real world experience.   Whether you are moving to the cloud, or still on-premises, or somewhere in between, there were sessions for you… Here is a brief list of topics covered:

  • System Center suite
  • Operations Management Suite (OMS)
  • Azure
  • Azure Automation
  • Windows Azure Pack (WAP) / Windows Azure Stack
  • Windows Server
  • Hyper-V

And, while these are all interesting topics to a geek like me, it wasn’t just a bunch of presentations listing what these products can do.  Instead, the sessions were all more focussed on what you can actually do with products, how they can work together, and how they can benefit the IT team and the business.  These types of sessions are far more useful and you end up leaving the conference with a head full of knowledge and ideas on how to improve your IT infrastructure.

As a bonus, there was the odd bit of comedy thrown in too…

As always at SCU, the atmosphere is great, and so much is gained by the networking that goes on between different people from different companies in different countries; whether that’s brief chats over lunch, or more serious evening conversations over a beer 😉

If all this wasn’t good enough, this year SCU was hosted in the amazing city of Berlin, which is one of my favourite cities in the world!  With amazing weather, a great location, fantastic sessions and friendly people, SCU was once again an amazing 3 days!!

If you didn’t attend SCU this year, I highly recommend that you put on your list of things for next year…  For more information on next years event, keep an eye on http://expertslive.eu/ for more information, as from next year, SCU Europe will become Experts Live Europe!

Next up for me is Microsoft Ignite in Atlanta, so fingers crossed it’ll be as good as SCU!
