Today was the first day of SCU Europe, and it was a great day all round.  All the sessions I attended were informative, the keynote was fun and the people were great!

First up we had the keynote by Marcel Zehner who really got all the attendees excited for the event, and injected a bit of fun with getting us to use our glow sticks… “Scream for country and wave your stick”.  Marcel did a fantastic job in detailing what the event was, what to expect, and where everything was!

After a few words from the key sponsors (Cireson, ITNetX and Microsoft) it was over to Sascha Corti to provide the keynote technical presentation, “Microsoft Technology outlook with focus on ITO and machine learning”.  This was another brilliant session where Sascha did a great job explaining what the Internet of Things is, and how Microsoft have, or will have, all the tools to take full advantage of the information provided by devices connected to Azure!  I highly recommend viewing this session when it becomes available on Channel 9.

After a short coffee creak to network with other attendees and sponsors, it was straight into the sessions… Here is what I attended:

  • Needlecraft 101 – How to stitch System Center together (Steve Beaumont)
Needlecraft
  • Building Restore – and Disaster Recovery Scenario within and from Azure (Robert Hedblom)
Disaster Recovery Azure

OpsMgr 2016

  • Operations Management Suite for the SCOM Administrator. (Maarten Goet)
OMS

I am lucky enough to know all the speakers personally, and all their sessions were very informative and well presented.  The main reason to come to an event such as SCU is to learn something new, as we as network with people, and I left all these sessions with new knowledge!!  As with the keynote, I can highly recommend watching these sessions when the videos are available online.

While attending SCU, I am taking plenty of pictures within the event, and of Basel.  All the pictures I have taken, and will take,  are available here… Go take a look 🙂
